Lovingly infatuated with being on radio

Posted on: Thu 10 Aug 2023

Jack Missen has spent the last thirteen years challenging the environmental and cultural elements that have permeated throughout the community media broadcasting sector in Victoria. Missen is also forthright in his passion for training potential newcomers into understanding radio while sharing the appreciation he holds pertaining to his many achievements within the industry itself.

Currently, Missen is serving as Secretary on the SYN Media Board, but has helmed multiple prior roles at Melbourne’s only youth focused radio station including On Air Presenter, Producer, Assistant Producer and Co-Executive Producer of the youth oriented breakfast program, Get Cereal, and Talks (Interviews) Producer. He was also the Producer for Friday Drive, hosted by Karl Bianco and Katherine Powell on 88.3 Southern FM. In 2022, Missen joined the CMTO’s Audio Ability Program Project, where he was selected as one of the mentors who got to participate in the course’s pilot/inaugural round.

Missen also discusses with De-Stigmatised‘s Jarad McLoughlin about what caused him to become besotted with community radio, as well as how he came to really value the non-traditional training and mentoring structures that were instilled in him.
