In 1609, Shakespeare’s Sonnets were first published in London by Thomas Thorpe, however it is unclear if Thorpe used an authorised manuscript for the publication.

Today is Hollywood actor James Stewart’s 114th birthday.

In 1967, The Beatles’ song A Day in the Life was banned by the BBC because of the line ‘I’d love to turn you on’.
