Labor’s climate policy contradiction

At a “special platform conference” at the end of the month, the Labor Party will likely support an expansion of Australia’s gas industry and an increased investment in carbon capture and storage technologies.

In an obvious contradiction, this policy will sit alongside a long-term commitment to zero net emissions. Both aspects are being proposed for an updated national policy platform.

To discuss Labor’s mixed messages on climate policy, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to Michael Mazengarb, a journalist with RenewEconomy.
