The End is High-Concept

Posted on: Thu 4 Mar 2021

The End is High-Concept, showing at Tandanya from the 9th to the 21st of March as part of the Adelaide Fringe, is a witty sketch comedy from writers Kyron Weetra and Josh Mensch who also brought us the award-winning Huge News.

“We’re just very, very meta, we deconstruct everything that we can and rebuild it into you know, a nice, little up-cycled product,” Kyron says.

The blurb reads:

“Stranded in deep space when their ship’s computer updates itself into obsolescence, the crew attempt to pass the time and bolster morale by sharing tales of woe and whimsy, all while a greater mystery unwinds amongst them.”

Showcasing the possibilities of contemporary theatre, the show brings local digital artists and 3-D animators together to present live animation performances that are sure to tickle our galactic fancies!

The show is presented by Cackling Jackal, a creative collective based on Kaurna land.

Tickets are available through Fringetix.

Kyron Weetra talks to us about the show’s (high) concepts, digital wonders including their contactless flyers (!), the collective Cackling Jackal and the future of theatre.
