Greenery Scenery

Posted on: Wed 6 Jan 2021

Buildings covered in greenery and flourishing with life are becoming popular around the world, in efforts to bring nature back into urban settings.

However, this ambitious idea is not always rainbows and pretty flowers, and comes with some complications.

One of these complications is when birds are attracted to the plants, not knowing this would be seconds before death. Birds cannot see glass; therefore, they smash into the buildings, leaving an array of deceased birds under skyscrapers.

Breakfast’s Zoe Kounadis and Tom Mann join Norman Day from Swinburne University of Technology to further discuss green buildings.
