Raising JobSeeker and Unemployment

With the mass onslaught of unemployment between February and April due to COVID-19, the fight to raise baseline JobSeeker has grown.

The opponents of this movement say that it will prevent Australia’s unemployed from seeking work in place of receiving the payment.

A recent study was conducted into the effect a sustained coronavirus supplement had on Australians returning to work.

Researcher Jeff Borland, Professor of Economics at the University of Melbourne, joins Breakfast‘s Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis to elaborate on this study.
