Bushfire Recovery Nurseries

Posted on: Wed 4 Nov 2020

After 12 million hectares of bushland was burnt across Australia last Summer, a number of initiatives have been established to restore some of this lost ecology.

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife is a charity partner for Australia’s National Parks – celebrating 50 years of fundraising for environmental projects. Over the next 5 years, they aim to plant 1 million plants in bushfire-affected regions with help of donations.

On Monday, the Yankalilla Community Nursery was awarded a grant with two other interstate nurseries to expand its seedling capacity – allowing for 40,000 trees.

Kylie Piper, Projects & Education Manager for Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann to discuss this.
