Don’t frack the outback!

Posted on: Tue 27 Oct 2020

The Federal and Northern Territory Governments are trying to fast-track two major gas fracking and pipeline projects in the Northern Territory that would further exacerbate climate change while also damaging the air and water.

The Arid Lands Environment Centre has slammed the proposal, which will use taxpayer funds to subsidise a planned billion dollar, 950 km long gas pipeline in Central Australia.

To find out about the projects, their effects, and the community campaign against them Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to the Arid Lands Environment Centre chief executive, Jimmy Cocking.
