On this day in history;

In 480BC – Death of Leonidas King of Sparta at the hands of the Persians led by Xerxes, a battle was made famous by the film 300 which was based on a comic by the same name

1924 – Newsreel pictures were taken of U.S. presidential candidates for the first time. The footage showed images of Calvin Coolidge, John W. Davis, and Robert La Follette during their campaigns.

2008 was the day American vacation rental online marketplace company, Airbnb, was founded and can now be used in 191 countries
