Nuclear zombie returns

Posted on: Tue 10 Mar 2020

The NSW Parliament’s State Development Committee has just released its report into nuclear power.

Committee members from all 4 conservative parties came together, with all recommending the repeal of state laws banning uranium mining and nuclear power.

However, that recommendation is unlikely to go forward, given that NSW Liberal Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Energy Minister Matt Kean have suggested that they oppose the push to repeal legislation banning nuclear power.

So what does this division indicate and how are things playing out with other Coalition parties across Australia.

To examine the issue of nuclear power more broadly Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to Jim Green,  national nuclear campaigner for Friends of the Earth.
