On This Day – February 24

Posted on: Mon 24 Feb 2020

[Sometimes, nothing interesting happens on a day in history, so Breakfast producer Zak Stuart decided to bring some historical events from the day before]

On February 23, 1958, five-time Formula One champion Juan Manuel Fangio of Argentina was kidnapped in Cuba by a group of Fidel Castro’s rebels.

On February 23, 1885, John Lee was sent to the gallows in Exeter, England, but after the noose was put around his neck and the drop lever was pulled, something malfunctioned and Lee was not dropped.

Breakfast producer Zak Stuart joins Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis to elaborate on these events in history.
