On This Day;

In 1974, German businessman Oskar Schindler died at the age of 66. Schindler was credited with saving the lives of 1,200 Jews from the Holocaust.

In 1936, harnessing the power of the Colorado River, the Hoover Dam begins sending electricity over transmission lines spanning 266 miles of mountains and deserts to Los Angeles.
