The Nationals and the science replication crisis

Posted on: Fri 27 Sep 2019

The National Party, AgForce and MP Bob Katter are proposing to create an “independent science quality assurance agency”.

This has come from an ongoing crisis from the science community of a significant number of studies being unable to be replicated, mainly from the fields of psychology, social science and experimental economics.

Fiona Fidler, Associate Professor in the School of Biosciences and School of Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne, joins Breakfast to discuss the issues this agency will bring and the risk of politicising science.
