Adelaide BDS protest hits 451 weeks

Posted on: Sat 7 Sep 2019

A Peace of the Action’s  Sue Gilbey talks to Margaret Cassar and Dr David Faber about the activities of the Australian Friends of Palestine Association (AFOPA).

Their main project is the pro-Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) protest that has been running in Rundle Mall for an amazing 451 weeks, over which thousands of leaflets have been distributed to the public.

In a recent motion and vote in the South Australian Parliament to recognise a Palestinian state, an MP made the point that the pro-Palestinian protesters were an important influence on the vote.

The interview also reveals some interesting historical, perhaps widely unknown and current bits of information including the possibility of an Aboriginal-Palestinian Solidarity Conference coming up soon, organised largely by aboriginal activist Gary Foley.
