Acknowledgement needed for grandparent carers

Posted on: Thu 8 Aug 2019

Grandparents for Grandchildren SA is an early intervention service that supports people who have become the full-time carers of their grandchildren.

CEO Peter Biber says the organisation’s core business is to pro-actively help keep at-risk children out of the foster care system and with their extended families.

He speaks to Small Change’s Ross Womersley about the kind of support his organisation provides, how it’s responding to growing numbers of families seeking assistance, including Aboriginal families, and why ‘grand-carers’ need proper acknowledgement.
