Land Protectors Criticise Armed Police Officers in New Zealand

A video of Police Officers carrying firearms at the cultural land site of Ihumātao has sparked widespread criticism.

Land protectors who are camping out in peaceful protest against property development at the South Auckland coastal site have expressed their concern, calling for the removal of police presence.

Police deny the officers had rifles on their person but instead were moving them “in the event of an emergency.”
