A Win for Democracy

It’s important to celebrate a win. This one involves most of the advocacy groups in Australia working together to defeat laws which would seriously limit their effectiveness. An email campaign of over 25,000 supporters also really helped. The laws would have blocked groups from campaigning on global issues like climate change or refugee policy. Anyone donating over $5 a week would have had to sign a declaration from a JP to prove Australian citizenship. Saffron Zomer from the Australian Conservation Foundation sheds light on this important win.
