Recycling Disposable Coffee Cups

The ABC’s War on Waste shocked Australian viewers when it revealed that takeaway coffee cups cannot be recycled. With Australians disposing of an estimated 1 billion cups annually, these convenient one-time-use containers make a significant contribution to landfill. Today, however, new technology makes it possible to recycle coffee cups and see them transformed into new products.
Barometer‘s Kirrilee Hay speaks with John Ryan, Head of Marketing at Close Loop, about the Simply Cups recycling program.
