Strengthening Australia’s Adoption System

Last week, the New South Wales parliament enabled new laws which enable children to be adopted from the state’s foster care system without parental consent. The laws bring a number of key changes to the adoption system – some large, some minor – but are they what’s best for the children, their stability and sense of identity?

Casey and Sam are joined by child protection advocate Tony Tonkin to explain the changes and look at some other models proposed over the years, including some examples from the United States.
