Gift of the grape 2018

There is much to  be gleaned from the national wine grape harvest of 2018.

Maybe not the biggest on record, but with much to tell about positive developments in many parts of the industry.

In his Wine Hero segment on Gastronaut, Paul Henry analyses volumes, varieties and trends.

While Tasmania manages to extract highest value per tonne, Paul points to the exciting advances in smaller, less prolific regions and varieties.

And the emergence of less assertive varieties like pinot; and the re-emergence of chardonnay, without the baggage of oak.
