Is Green the New Black?

Posted on: Wed 4 Jul 2018

As Australian supermarkets are phasing out single-use plastic bags, competition based on green credentials between the major players has increased.

Banning single-use plastic bags is a great first step says Dr. Louise Grimmer from the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics, but there’s still a long way to go.

Dr. Grimmer is optimistic about the future, “we’re going have to see where you can start taking your own containers to supermarkets and reusing your own containers and filling up with your products that way. Of course, we’re still going to have packaging on a lot of products, because it protects them for a lot of reasons, but the type of packaging is going to have to change” she says.

Dr. Louise Grimmer joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann, to speak about why green is becoming the new black.
