LGBTQI Health and Wellbeing

Posted on: Tue 5 Jun 2018

Research across the globe has indicated low LGBTQI health. It is not clear why this is the case.

One widely acknowledged theory is the minority stress model, which indicates that stigmatisation and discrimination experienced day to day by LGBTQI people is to blame.

Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Science Research & Life Course Centre, Dr Franciso Perales Perez, has conducted extensive research into this discrimination and the forms it takes in Australia.

Dr Perez joins Breakfast‘s Sam and Casey to explain it further and suggest ways in which the community can support LGBTQI people.
