Private Power Grid Saved SA $$$

Posted on: Tue 10 Apr 2018

Kate Griffiths from the Grattan Institute joins us to talk about the future planning of electricity infrastructure. We discuss whether it’s better to accept intermittent unreliability to lower power prices.

Kate comments that we should remember that whatever is invested in the system will eventually be paid for by consumers.

‘One of the problems we’ve seen is an overbuilding of the grid, expecting demand to keep on growing. In the past decade we’ve seen demand flatten and even reduce. New technologies could reduce our need for more generation and network build.’
