In 1868, founder of an iconic South Australian winery, Joseph Seppelt, died in South Australia after emigrating from Poland in 1950.

In 1938, feminist and writer, Germaine Greer, was born in Melbourne.

In 1964, film director Stanley Kubrick’s political satire Dr Strangelove was released in cinemas around the world.
