On this day in 1952, a killer fog settled on London. It would become known as the Great Smog of London. The smog was caused by poor air quality, cold weather and windless conditions.

And, on this day in 1980, Led Zeppelin announced they would be disbanding several months after the passing of their drummer, John Bonham.
