Ear health and hearing loss

Posted on: Wed 25 Oct 2017

In this week’s show we talk about middle ear disease (Otitis media) and the dangers of hearing loss and what we can do to improve our ear health.

We find out about the Aboriginal Ear Health Framework that has recently been developed by the South Australian Department of Health and the members of the South Australian Aboriginal Ear Health Reference Group.

We talk with Associate Professor Nicola Spurrier from SA Health. Nicola is SA Health’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer. She works as a Public Health doctor and a Consultant Paediatrician (or children’s doctor), through the paediatric outpatient clinics at Flinders Medical Centre and at Maringga Turtpandi Aboriginal Health Service in the north of Adelaide. She has a keen interest in health promotion, Aboriginal child health, child development, and ear health and hearing.
