Catalonia’s Independence: Fear it or celebrate it?

Over the last few weeks, we have all been watching and waiting to see if Catalonia will declare independence from Spain.
Many fear it, many celebrate it. But what is it all about?
What could really happen if they separate themselves from Spain?
Why has this move towards independence peaked in the last few years?
Dr Volker Prott from the University of Melbourne says, “it’s part of the more general and quite alarming movement in Europe, that is nationalism.”
Prott is concerned that there is potential for economic stress if Catalonia does gain independence, he joins Breakfast’s Tom and Morgan to discuss.
