Megan Spencer: Continuing – Harry’s War

Posted on: Mon 27 Apr 2020

Harry Spencer was just a young boy when his older brother died serving in the First World War. A twin, Private Richard Spencer, 14th Battalion, was killed on the Western Front in 1918, a few days shy of his 19th birthday. No doubt this played a role in Harry’s decision to join up in 1939.

Megan Spencer is a meditation teacher, with a particular interest in self care and kindness.  But she’s also a professional broadcaster, film critic, journalist and media maker, with a long list of credits to her name, and has kindly allowed Service Voices to use sections of her wonderful podcast series for the Australian War Memorial…   From a Whisper to a Bang…  the story of Corporal Harry Spencer 2/7th Battalion POW WW2.
