On This Day;

In 1857, Mormon guerrillas, stoked by resentment of decades of public abuse and federal interference, murdered 120 emigrants at Mountain Meadows, Utah.

The Mormons, working with the native Paiute Indians, convinced the emigrants to surrender arms, and quickly opened fire on the wagon train.
