Australia to become free of cervical cancer by 2035

Posted on: Fri 5 Oct 2018

Australia is on track to become the first country in the world to be free of cervical cancer by 2035.

Cervical cancer is the fourth highest cause of cancer-related deaths in women worldwide.

The eradication of the disease will be made possible due to a combined approach that uses vaccination and screening.

Tamara Thorpe, Community Education Project Manager of Cancer Council SA, joins Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis to speak about the programs which are helping Australia to eliminate the disease.
