Welfare Reform Bill back before Parliament next month

Posted on: Fri 19 Jan 2018

In last year’s budget, the federal government proposed a series of changes to the welfare system to introduce a demerit-points scheme for job seekers.

The Welfare Reform Bill, which includes the changes, is back before federal parliament in early February.

State coordinator for Anti-Poverty Network SA, Pas Forgione, says the scheme looks set to pass federal parliament with the support of Nick Xenophon Team Senators.

Pas explains what this means for job seekers and why the Bill needs to be opposed.
