If you’re a smartphone user with an interest in the natural world, you may already be using apps like PlantSnapp or iNaturalist to help you identify what you see in the wild. Think Shazam but for plants and animals.

But is the use of this kind of technology replacing experts like librarians? And how does this change the way we perceive the world?

Andrew Robinson from the Australian National University joins Casey Tonkin and Sam Smith to discuss these very questions.
