Tour Down Under – the view from Europe

Posted on: Mon 30 Jan 2023

The Tour Down Under is held in a state with 80% renewable energy, but is sponsored by fossil fuel giant SANTOS. This was protested every day of the Tour. Five people were arrested. All of them were older women. Three of the arrests were for indecent behaviour. That certainly helped to stimulate the international coverage of the protests. Cycling journalist Stan Portus was watching closely from the UK and covered the TDU protests and protests about sportswashing in Europe, the home of professional cycling. He spoke with Nicky Page on Radio Adelaide
