Great Barrier Reef on ‘in danger’ list

The Great Barrier Reef holds immense environmental, cultural, and economic significance and is an Australian and global icon. However, after 2021 was documented to be the warmest year on record, and here in 2022, we’re facing another summer of extreme weather.

A United Nations delegation has joined calls for the Great Barrier Reef to be placed on UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites ‘in danger’.

The delegation officially visited the reef in March 2022 and overnight released the report detailing their findings and recommendations.
