In 1846, German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle was the first person to knowingly observe and discover Neptune in one of the most remarkable moments of nineteenth-century science.

In 1889, Japanese gaming company Nintendo was founded producing handmade playing cards.

In 1977, American jazz rock band Steely Dan released their sixth studio album Aja. It is widely-regarded as one of the greatest albums and in 2010 was preserved in the National Recording Registry.
