Protecting NT from Fracking

Posted on: Tue 21 Sep 2021

There are existing and potential fracking projects in the Northern Territory, and most recently, Resources Minister Keith Pitt has agreed to a $21million grant to a mining company to develop new ones in the Beetaloo Basin, despite a court case, and objections by landholders and indigenous owners, and an incomplete approvals process. Protect Country Alliance is an alliance of community groups and organisations, and individuals, who believe fracking in the Northern Territory, for various reasons, is not environmentally sustainable. Barry Mitchell spoke to the Alliance’s Graeme Sawyer.
