Arif Hussein: Immediate actions to support Afghanistan

Posted on: Fri 27 Aug 2021

Refugee advocates are urging the Australian Government to take action as Afghans, especially women and long-persecuted minorities like the Hazara people, continue to face dire risks to their safety following the Taliban seizing Afghanistan.

Advocates are also urging the Government to grant permanent protection to Afghan refugees in Australia who continue to face harsh policies.

We heard from senior solicitor at Sydney’s Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS) Arif Hussein last week about Australia’s obligations to Afghan people and how our local communities can push for action.

The template for the letter to your MP can be found on the RACS website.
