In 1768, Captain James Cook departed from Plymouth, England, on his first voyage commanding the HMS Endeavour.

In 1950, director Akira Kurosawa’s film Rashomon was released in theatres.

The film’s premise is told mostly through conflicting witness testimonies as the mystery of a murdered samurai is uncovered.

In 1998, Fugees member Lauryn Hill released her solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn hill. It is the first hip hop album to win Grammy of the Year.
