SA Petition to Declare Climate Emergency

Posted on: Tue 24 Aug 2021

A formal petition has garnered over 10,000 signatures calling for the South Australian Parliament to declare a climate emergency.

This follows the IPCC report released earlier this month, which provided a comprehensive image of man-made climate change and the risks the world faces if immediate action is not taken.

St Kilda mangroves are also back in the news for the lack of action that has been taken so far to correct contaminated groundwater and the damage its doing to the ecosystem.

In other news, the SA’s second annual Nature Festival will be held from 25 September-4 October 2021, and there has been a push to have Adelaide become the world’s second official National Park City.

Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis are joined by Conservation SA’s Craig Wilkins to discuss the latest in SA’s environmental news.
