Aus response to Afghanistan crisis

The Taliban taking power in Afghanistan is causing a major humanitarian crisis.

So what is Australia’s responsibility in helping civilians, and those who have aided Australia, to flee the country?

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has outlined that we will offer support for those who come “the right way”, offering a consistent message on granting asylum we’ve had as a country for over a decade now.

Dr Claire Higgins, Senior Research Fellow at the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at University of New South Wales joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann to discuss.
