‘New Shoots’ lifts spirits

Posted on: Thu 10 Jun 2021

Kangaroo Island will host the likes of Spiderbait, Killing Heidi, Angie McMahon and Ash Grunwald this November as part of a new annual music festival.

New Shoots Music Festival will be the largest music event to take place on the island in over a decade and will raise much needed funds for a community that has been ravaged by bush fires and, more recently, has felt the impact of COVID19 travel restrictions.

“The island’s a very stoic, a very strong community but there are certainly people that are feeling like they’ve been bashed from pillar to post.”

Committee chair Andy Gilfillan

East End Events, the locally-run, not-for-profit committee behind the festival, aims to draw people over to the island for the festival with the idea that attendees will take a few days either side to travel around, witness the island’s recovery and support local businesses in the process.

New Shoots Music Festival will take place at Penneshaw Oval on November 20.

Tickets now on sale through OzTix.
