The swift rise of digital cash like Bitcoin has seen cryptocurrency come up as a major economic player, but what do we actually know about them?

In the 21st century we’ve seen the proliferation of digital currency Bitcoin.

In just 10 years the currency grew from costing just $1 USD a piece to being worth over $75,000 each at its peak earlier this year.

Dr John Hawkins, Senior Lecturer in Politics, Economics and Society from The University of Canberra joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Paul Davies to discuss.
