Aus premiere of ‘The Hello Girls’

Posted on: Fri 21 May 2021

During World War 1, a continuing ‘lost in translation’ problem in France lead to the recruitment of bilingual telephone operators for the American war effort, known as the ‘Hello Girls’.

These heroines served on the front lines, then returned home to fight a decades-long battle for equality and recognition, paving the way for future generations.

Adelaide theatre group Therry Dramatic Society are showcasing the Australian premiere, opening June 3.

Jill Bartlett, President of Therry Dramatic Society, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Paul Davies to discuss the joyful and inspiring musical.
