A Page Turner for Local Illustrator

Posted on: Mon 10 May 2021

“A parent sitting down reading a book with their child – there’s something lovely about that engagement together.”

Ross Morgan

As digital spheres continue to expand, the use of phones, computers and apps are on the rise. But, what does this mean for the humble hard-copy, picture books and page turning?

Through a mentorship with Rising Literacy Australia, local artist and illustrator, Ross Morgan, joined in collaboration with author, Kaliah Tsakalisis, to create and launch children’s book Molly Moores Has A House Just Like Yours.

Ross’s illustrations from the book are currently on display at the Bluethumb Gallery in Goodwood.

Ross joined Festival City’s Emma Wotzke to chat about his inspirations, the processes behind this unique collaboration, the power of imagination, and his thoughts on the sentiment of the hardcopy book in our changing society.
