Euphoria explores life in small towns

Posted on: Thu 29 Apr 2021

Euphoria, a play which explores mental health in regional towns, is about to start its run – first in Renmark, then Adelaide and then onward for an extensive tour of SA.

“What we see is not always, or maybe not ever, everything that’s going on for a person. It’s [the play] is a reminder of that.”

Emily Steel, Playwright

Euphoria, written by Emily Steel, is the result of an in-depth study tour documenting life in regional South Australian towns.

‘How do you feel about where you live?’ was a key question asked of locals in Berri, Whyalla, Streaky Bay, Ceduna, Mount Gambier, Bordertown and Burra.

These conversations formed the basis of the play.

Euphoria plays at Space Theatre from the 6th – 15th May.
