Love, Energy and the 80’s on Stage: The Wedding Singer Revived

Posted on: Sat 10 Apr 2021

Most of us remember the romantic comedy the Wedding Singer that hit the screen in 1998…big hair, leg warmers, and a trip back to the 80’s.

The Wedding Singer is set to emerge in Adelaide, on stage in full musical form at Her Majesty’s Theatre until April 25 as part of its Australian tour, followed by Melbourne, Gold Coast and Sydney.

The musical comedy, directed by Alister Smith comes together with music by Matthew Skylar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy.

Alister Spoke with Festival City’s Emma Wotzke about the excitement surrounding the re-emergence of live theatre and some of the creative process involved in adapting the Wedding Singer to stage.
