Take art, give art at the Free Little Art Gallery

“It has this potential to create really positive connections because it is through kindness…and it promotes artists that wouldn’t perhaps have the opportunity… This is open to everyone.”

Jewels Smith, Curator of the Free Little Art Gallery

Maybe you’ve seen little boxes of books set up outside people’s houses to swap and exchange. They seemed to boom during COVID19. But have you seen one filled with art?

Jewels Smith, a local artist, has set one up on Richmond Steet at Hackney and believes hers is one of the first in Australia.

People are invited to peek inside and swap their art if they wish.

The tiny gallery is creating a platform for local artists to display their work, as well as an opportunity for the community to come together and share in something magical.
