New tech to speed up bushfire detection?

Posted on: Thu 18 Mar 2021

The Australian National University National Bushfire Initiative team have been developing an ambitious fire-fighting plan with innovative techniques.

One idea is a constellation of bushfire-spotting satellites equipped with infrared sensors that could detect trouble within minutes.

Also, researchers may have an answer to preventing lethal allergic reactions – and it may lie in our own immune systems.

And last, but definitely not least, can scientists have found a way to convert plastic into a soft, silky material that we can wear and doesn’t hurt the planet as much to produce?

Online Producer for Cosmos Magazine Kelly Wong talks to us about these fascinating developments.
