Ocean of trouble for recycled plastic

A new report indicates industries that support the practice of recycling are changing, and as a result many recycled plastics are still finding their way into our oceans in alarming numbers.

Australia’s waste ban has contributed to the disruption of this market, meaning plastics can only be exported in a particular condition.

Monique Retamal, Research Principal at Institute for Sustainable Futures from the University of Technology Sydney, speaks with Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Paul Davies about the issue.
