Barbara Pillans: A land fit for heroines

Posted on: Mon 22 Feb 2021

Barbara researched the stories of women who lived on the newly allocated Soldier Settlement Blocks in NSW after WW11. They lived in tents, sheds or slab huts with no electricity or running water and worked long hours side by side with their husbands to establish their homes, bringing up their children far from family support and with medical help often difficult to access on sometimes impassable roads.  Barbara was one of those children.
